ABOUT OUR GROUP

Minnedosa Performing Arts Committee

The Minnedosa Performing Arts Committee coordinates the Expressions Concert Series.

We are a non-profit organization dedicated to bringing live performances to Minnedosa. These performances include a variety of performing arts: vocal, instrumental, drama and dance and many genres from classical to contemporary to country.  Our concerts will appeal to a wide audience of all ages.

We couldn’t do this without the work of our volunteer committee members and the generous support of our sponsors: Canadian Heritage; Manitoba Culture, Heritage and Tourism; Heritage Co-op; Minnedosa & District Foundation, Sunrise Credit Union and the Town of Minnedosa.

ABOUT

These “exquisite,” “spine-tingling” unaccompanied voices sing timeless, deeply moving a cappella music from across the ages. Their favourite genres include folk, contemporary covers, and contemplative classics, often featuring new arrangements.

After singing together in other ensembles for many years, they came together during the pandemic to keep some musical proximity ("proximus!"). Their performances celebrate the power of music to connect one another and soothe the soul. In their inaugural year, they performed three concerts to sold-out audiences in Winnipeg; this year, they’ve taken their show on the road to the US Midwest and are delighted to be performing in Montreal for Podium.

Orontes:
More than most, the Orontes Guitarists understand the power that music holds to build bridges and to heal. Like the river from which they draw their name, the trio crosses boundaries and borders, influencing and being influenced in return.

The group had a promising start in Beirut, appearing at venues including the Syrian National Symphony Orchestra and the French Embassy before civil war intruded. Thanks to the Artist Protection Fund (APF) which helps musicians in areas of conflict, the group has found refuge in Canada.

Hailing from different cultural and religious traditions themselves, the trio is keenly aware of how music transcends the barriers between us. They bring audiences an uplifting blend of baroque, flamenco and blues-inspired classical guitar, as they explore their new land and community in this Prairie Debut tour.

Royal Manitoba Theatre Centre is Canada's oldest English-language regional theatre. Next to the Stratford and Shaw Festivals, MTC has a higher annual attendance than any other theatre in the country. It was founded in 1958 by John Hirsch and Tom Hendry as an amalgamation of the Winnipeg Little Theatre and Theatre 77

“Ingenious! A snazzy double act” – New York Times

Officer Marcus Moscowicz is small-town police officer and an aspiring detective. On a dark and stormy night moments before the surprise birthday party for renowned author Arthur Whitney, shots are fired, and the writer is murdered! As the nearest detective is an hour away, Marcus seizes the opportunity to showcase his sleuthing abilities, with the assistance of his silent partner Lou. Now, the question remains: Who is the culprit behind this mysterious crime?

A high-energy musical whodunit, Murder for Two is a blend of a classic musical, a comedy and a murder mystery, where two actors play a dozen different characters and a piano. Settle in for this witty homage to old-fashioned murder mysteries.

Dirty Catfish Brass Band - based out of Winnipeg, Manitoba is bringing the Bayou up north. Fronted by an explosive seven piece brass section, this group knows how to party.

The Royal Winnipeg Ballet is Canada's oldest ballet company and the longest continuously operating ballet company in North America
